All go at Lough Derg FC. All squads are back in action. The Academy returned for a Super Saturday with lots of new faces as well as returning stars. All are welcome. Please spread the word!

No Junior action this week as Tribe Trials was penciled in but alas, for good reasons the decision was taken to push out to a better date. Do it right or don’t do it at all. We look forward to sharing the full plans early in the new year.

Plenty of action on the pitch. U13A boys had a fine come from behind 2-1 win versus an always strong BT Harps side. Augurs well for the season ahead.

Lots of action in the girls' games. On a super Saturday, the u15 Girls had a great start with a fine win against Moneygall. 5-2 for a finish. The u13B girls pleased their coaches despite going down to a strong Killavilla A side. Lots of young soccer sisters making debuts at this level. The enthusiasm is high, the results will follow.

And we had a first at u18 girls level. With drop off rates notoriously high among older teenage girls, to keep the show on the road for those committed soccer sisters we have entered an amalgamated side with our neighbours in Birdhill. The early morning trip to Holycross didn’t phase them and despite going down to a hefty score line against a quality Holycross side – Munster Champions at this level, there were positives to take from the game, including two well worked goals to suggest this squad has a bright future.

Unfortunately, a couple of games were postponed this weekend due to no referee being available. We all know the story – No Ref, No Game. We are seeking expressions of interest from club members who would like to become referees. It’s a worthwhile hobby, makes a real difference in peoples lives and also a useful money maker. Perhaps a college student with Saturday mornings free? Perhaps former players looking to stay in the game? Perhaps as a retirement hobby? Full support and training provided.
