Another football season draws to an end. Awards Night tonight, our first in three long years! A few cup finals still to be played, and some big days out as we hope to finish on a high! Throughout the years, despite pandemics and interruptions, the football show went on. Along the way, hundreds of children and young and not so young adults, enjoyed thousands of hours of footballing fun, fitness, and friendship. Goals scored, epic matches played, some won, lost and drawn. Cups, Leagues, Plates and Shields won and lost. Penalties scored; penalties saved, decisions given and not given, camps run, squads made, Clubmark awards won, Saturday summaries, and weekend round ups. Ecstasy and agony week after week as the Lough Derg FC crew, with our wider football family played and made memories through the beautiful game.

You can put a price on lots of things. A pair of boots, new kit, club membership, a grassroots lotto subscription, the diesel for an away trip up and down the motorways and byways of Tipperary and to the far-flung places we find on National Cup odysseys. Even the chicken rolls on the way home. You can put a price on registration fees, affiliation fees, insurance costs, grass cutting, pitch maintenance and even, ahhmm, fines. But the whole package? The memories, the magic, the emotion? Priceless.

Week after week the magic happens. It doesn’t happen by accident though. There are over fifty coaches at Lough Derg FC committed to doing things right, delivering to our DNA promise – Develop a Lifelong Love of the Game. And there is a hard-working committee behind the scenes, working hard to make footballing at Lough Derg FC the best experience it can be for everyone involved – players, coaches, parents, supporters, officials, our opponents, and our sporting community as a whole.

PLAY YOU PART

And this is where we need you to play your part. We need more people to share the load on our committee. You don’t have to be an expert on football to make a real impact on the running of an amateur club. You might have an interest or expertise in administration, facilities management, horticulture, finance and accounting, child protection, social or mainstream media, web design, insurance, construction, planning, coaching. Like any great team, it takes lots of diversity to make a dream team. If you are an adult, enjoying your child’s journey in football at Lough Derg FC we ask you to consider how you can do a little more to make that journey all the more enjoyable for your child and the generations to come.

Our AGM will take place in June. This is your chance to wear the jersey and help make the magic happen.
If you would like more information about roles and what is entailed, please contact Ray Hickey on 086 6010551 or any member of the committee.

We’ve said it before. Teamwork makes the dream work.
