Wow, first weekend wrap up since 4th October 2020. Its great to be back!

Plenty of competitive football action this weekend. Some great results and some disappointment, but we are long enough in the game to know you win some, you lose some. If you give it your best you can do no more.

Pride of place this weekend goes to the super soccer sisters the u12 girls who won the Shield Final on Saturday against a gallant Shinrone Ladies side. Congrats to the girls, coaches and parents that gave great support.

On Friday night the u14B boys went down to a strong Ballymackey A team. A similar fate for the 15B boys who lost out on Sunday to a very strong Killavilla A side. That’s the joy of knockout football and the luck of the open draw. The experience of playing against strong A teams will only stand to the B and C squads as they prepare for graded league football. Every footballer has lost big at some point. Take the lesson and move on. Bouncebackability takes you a long way.

U12C boys had a rip roaring game in Holycross in the Bowl final against Killavilla A. They lost out on the day but coaches and players can be proud of the effort, great football played and lessons learned will be put to good use. Some days we win, some days we learn.

We know covid and precautions meant a fair few of our young players missed out that the weekend. We share your disappointment. We all have to do our bit. We will get through this and there are better days ahead. We’ll say it again, teamwork makes the dream work.

Juniors had a big game on Sunday morning as they push for a historic first Premier League title away to defending champions Nenagh Celtic. Scoreless at half time, Derg went through the gears in a fantastic second half. A Jack O’Mahony screamer and a Finn Looney fine finish put them in control with 10 minutes to go. We’ve been at this funny ol game long enough to know its not over until its over. Nenagh scored on 87 to make it interesting and on 92 to complete the come back and earn an unlikely point. The title charge is still alive though. 3 home games to go. There is a belief in this squad that they can achieve the breakthrough. We go again Wednesday night in Clarisford at 7:30 as Borroway come to town. Home support might be the difference. Hon Derg!
