Grass roots magic was back on full swing this morning with a full programme of games going ahead. And despite rumours of flooding, Clarisford Park was in great nick to host the games! In the early kick off on Clarisford 3G u13 Premier girls recorded an excellent 2-0 win v a good Killavilla side. Paige Keogh forced the opener with a never give up chase down of a ball that looked dead and Saoirse McLoughlin added the 2nd with an excellent left foot finish off a Sarah Lancaster cross. Excellent squad performance. A fine game too for 13 Major girls away to Moneygall but losing out 6-2. Sophie O'Neill and an o.g. accounting for the Lough Derg FC scores. 13A boys enjoyed a hard fought 2-3 away win in BT Harps to stay in contention for the title. Brendan Minogue and Oisin Rowan x2 getting the goals. 13B hosted Borrisokane in Clarisford and while finishing on the wrong side of 0-4 played some lovely stuff. A highlight for this spectator was a spectacular goal line clearance from young Jack Scullane. Well played boys. U15 boys were pipped 2-1 away to Champions elect Ballymackey. Charlie King scoring for Derg in a game where they deserved to get something. I wouldn't rule this squad out of retaining the cup. Next up u15 girls hosted Borrisokane on Clarisford. Kudos to these young wonder women. 13 of the squad have been burning the midnight oil all week in the splendid production of Into the Woods and 2 of the squad came straight from the rugby pitch after an epic cup win v Shannon to the football pitch before getting back in the ballerina kit for tonight's grand finale. 2-3 it finished to the visitors. Derg rallied well from going 0-2 down. Regardless of the score, can't fault the effort and multi talents of these girls. U11 girls too enjoyed a good outing even in losing out away to BT Harps. Plenty of u11 boys actions too with 3 squads in action at home and away. Waiting on some pictures and updates. Win, lose or draw today, it's great to be back in action. Same again next week!
