Saturday Summary 18th Jan '20 The fog lifted, the frost thawed and some great games of football went ahead today in glorious winter sunshine.

The early start and the away trip was with the u16A boys who took on Premier Division table toppers BT Harps in a frosty Templemore. Derg got off to a flier and scored after 5 mins through an Oisin Pepper indirect free. A Charlie King screamer made it 2 nil. BT pulled one back before half time before King made it 3-1 after 50 minutes. A strong fight back from Harps saw them score 2 off set pieces to square the game. In a helter skelter final quarter both sides could have won it and neither deserved to lose and a 3-3 draw was a fair reflection on a fine game. Special shout out to goalie Pearce Ryan who made the step up from 15Bs and marked his debut with a confident performance.

U16Bs hosted Silvermines in Clarisford and went down 0-2. Mines scores early and Derg hit post and crossbar before Mines scored an insurance goal on a late counterattack.

Next up in Clarisford was u14A boys who hosted BT Harps and recorded an excellent 2-0 win. Final game on a sunny Clarisford was the afternoon kickoff of Lough Derg FC v Ballymackey. Derg had a great chance to take an early lead before the visitors hit a purple patch in the 1st half to go 0-4 up. Scoreline didn't reflect the game as Derg girls were playing fantastic football. In a super 2nd half Ballymackey added 1 more goal but it was the Derg girls who will take the positives from their best performance of the season so far. Some days we win. Some days we learn. A super result for the u12 Major boys who played great football to earn a 4-0 win versus Holycross.

Lots of other great football played today with more updates to follow. I'm hearing stories of cracking games in under 10 blitzed for both boys and girls. Another Super Saturday. Same again next week..
